China exerting 'unprecedented' influence campaign in U.S.: official

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - China is waging an unprecedented campaign to influence American public opinion as November congressional elections approach, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen M. Nielsen said on Wednesday.

“China absolutely is on an unprecedented - or exerting unprecedented effort to influence American opinion,” Nielsen told a Senate panel. “We have not seen to date any Chinese attempts to compromise election infrastructure.”
